One of The First’s longstanding traditions is a rotating, gallery-style art display in the lobby of our Main Office in Hutchinson. We’re proud to support our local and regional culture by showcasing the work of students, amateurs and professional artists from near and far.
October/November - Kristen Garlow Piper
Through November 22, prints by local photographer Kristen Garlow Piper will be featured behind the teller line in the lobby of the Sherman & Main location of First National Bank of Hutchinson.
Kristen Garlow Piper, a Hutchinson native, graduated from the William Allen White School of Journalism at the University of Kansas with a degree in Photojournalism. She worked for several newspapers before going into freelance work in the 1980s. In addition to her freelance work, she has documented historic renovations such as the Wiley Building, Catalyst Lofts, and the Hutchinson Art Center. Kristen also contributes to the Hutchinson Magazine, The Hutchinson News, and Kansas! Magazine.
Garlow Piper owns her own photography business and has twice been an artist-in-residence at Lester Raymer’s Red Barn Studio in Lindsborg, Kansas. She serves as the photographer for Stage 9, Hutchinson Symphony Orchestra, Hutchinson Art Center, and The Kansas Cosmosphere.
